Farewellspheres is a research and doctoral project by
cultural scientist and designer Andrea Jäggi-Staudacher.
The project investigates the interplay of space and the dead body in regard to prevailing atmospheres within laying out situations.
In doing so, it develops a comprehensive understanding of how the design of spaces can influence the way death and mourning are experienced.
The goal of this research is to bring design knowledge back
into practice, where the production of adequate farewellspheres
can help mourners cope with grief.
